We've started our own book clubs this month, and students have enjoyed reading new books and discussing them with their peers. Our book clubs are similar to adult book clubs, but with a few more expectations for students to be checking in about their understanding of the book and talking about their reading strategies. The aim of the book clubs is to encourage thoughtful discussion and a love of reading. The students are in small groups with peers who are reading the same book alongside them, and they each have a job as they read such as "Discussion Director" and "Passage Predictor." 2B is getting to be more and more grown-up in their reading skills!
