To celebrate the warm weather and the arrival of spring, Millgrove had a day themed around one of spring’s best things – rainbows! Our class enjoyed the many colours that people dressed up in, and we had fun with some rainbow-themed dancing and literature. It's always special to see the school come together, and it was definitely a colourful bunch at Millgrove today!

Our class was happy to head back to the Participark this week now that we're back in school together, and we had sightings of some lovely yellow flowers, plenty of butterflies, and even a former Millgrove teacher walking with her husband! Of course, we made sure to play hide and seek in the woods which is always a class favourite!
We had a transformative experience this week as we saw our pupa metamorphosize into butterflies! They hatched in batches, so we had fun taking them out at different times to watch them fly out into the big wide world of our school field. It was very exciting to watch them come out of their chrysalises and pump up their wings. You can watch the videos below to see the life cycle of the Painted Lady butterfly! We put our measurement skills to the test today as we measured the perimeter of the school! Students worked in groups to measure different portions of the school building, and when we added up the different distances, they impressively added up to an even 400 metres!
Happy Mother’s Day! The students were thrilled to take home their Mother’s Day poems this past week that they had worked so hard on. Thank you to all you fantastic 3B moms, grandmas/nanas/omas, aunts, and other wonderful women who love these children so very well!
We've had a delightful month with the chicks, and they officially made the trip back to their farm today! The class was very sad to see them go because we've grown accustomed to their silly antics, musical chirping, and cuddly-soft feathers. We learned so much about their life cycles, and the students were devoted caretakers to these newborns. As another staff member at Millgrove described them, they were wonderful chick parents!
The force was with us today as we celebrated May the Fourth in 3B! We read and wrote some Star Wars poetry, completed a Star Wars Math challenge as a class, and drew some Star Wars characters. The class particularly relished some lightsaber/marker battles and having Mrs. Barker call them only by their Star Wars names for the whole day (everything from Luke and Storm Trooper K to Galaxy and Princess).
